Why choose stone-effect porcelain tiles?

Natural travertine, limestone and granite look wonderful but come with real drawbacks: they're porous, need periodic sealing, and can pit or stain if something's spilled and not wiped up quickly. Stone-effect porcelain tiles reproduce the same textured, natural look in a material that doesn't need any of that upkeep. They're non-porous, scratch and stain resistant, and hold their colour under sunlight, so a hallway or south-facing kitchen won't fade over time. Full-body, rectified porcelain also keeps edges straight and consistent, so tiles sit close together with tighter grout lines and the stone texture reads convincingly across a whole room.

Stone-effect tiles for bathrooms

Real stone and constant bathroom moisture don't mix well, limescale and soap residue etch into the surface over time, and grout around natural stone is prone to mould. Porcelain stone-effect tiles give you the same warm, natural texture without that maintenance, so a shower floor or feature wall keeps its finish with normal cleaning. Stone-effect tiles work equally well as a floor and as a feature wall, and running the same tile from floor to wall (a shower enclosure, for example) gives a continuous, natural-stone look with no visual break at the skirting. Large-format sizes reduce the number of grout lines, so the texture reads as one surface rather than a repeated pattern. Matt vs gloss stone-effect tiles

Gloss stone-effect tiles catch the light and suit smaller or darker rooms where you want more brightness, though they can be slippery when wet and show water marks more readily. Matt and carved-texture finishes are closer to how natural stone actually feels underfoot, offer better slip resistance, and hide everyday footprints and watermarks better, making them a practical default for hallways, kitchens and bathroom floors. Choosing colours: grey, beige, brown and gold stone-effect tiles

Cool grey stone-effect tiles, like our Statuario Mercury Grey, give a modern, understated base that pairs well with black or brushed brass fittings. Warmer beige and taupe tones, such as Canyon Beige, suit a softer, more traditional scheme and hide everyday dust well on floors. 600x1200mm large-format planks are our most popular stone-effect size: big enough to keep grout lines to a minimum while still practical to cut and lay around fittings. Bigger formats suit large, open-plan floors particularly well, while a smaller size can be more manageable for a compact bathroom or an intricate feature wall.
